Read John 5-7

One of my favorite things to do both in the winter and the spring is tend to my yard. Yes, I said even in the winter! We get frost where I live, so if i don’t cut back all my plants, most to the roots, they will just freeze and not grow back lush in the spring, when the rain fills them and gives them new life.

After I have been working in the yard on a cold or hot day, I’ll typically go to the refrigerator and grab a bottle of water to quench my thirst and replace the water I’ve lost through sweating. Drinking pure water is probably the best way to satisfy the need to rehydrate physically. But what about satisfying spiritual needs?

Sometimes we try to meet our inner spiritual thirst through external means that do not satisfy like food, alcohol, drugs, even shopping. These earthly things will not truly satisfy the need that God has given each of us for a Savior. Only Jesus can satisfy this need.

Jesus said, “Anyone who is thirsty come to me! Anyone that believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart’ (John 7:38, NLT).

We have this ONE Life that has been given to us. Don’t go thirsty searching for what will give life to your soul! Seek out the life that died for your soul. Take this day and every day to call out to Jesus and let Him fill you with the living waters of truth!

Thoughts: Do you have a deep thirst that has not yet been quenched? Are you daily seeking Jesus as your source of Living Water?
