Read Romans 1-4
I’m no rocket scientist, but from a very young age I loved to look inside things and to see how they worked. So in Romans 1:16, it captivates me how Paul reveals God’s perfect design to bring ALL people into unity with the Gospel.
He Has Made it Plain
Verses 1:19-20 speak of how plainly God has made Himself known; not only the visible creation around us, but His invisible qualities. Scientists might naturally point to the subatomic world as an example, yet I’m struck by “His eternal power and divine nature”. These are plainly revealed in the life of a Christian man or woman. How do you explain the desire to fly to a foreign land, to people speaking a language you can’t understand and likely will never see again to build them a fresh-water well? Or bring food and gifts to a family at Christmas and Thanksgiving? These are motivations, not discoverable from the outside, but invisible ones placed in the heart where God wants to reside. God is counting on you and me to be the examples of His perfect plan to bring people together; motivations not sparked by obligation, but by the joy He has placed in our hearts.
The succeeding chapters explain how the Jews and the Gentiles are all equal before God and they need to be welcomed to the family. Yet this wasn’t done by making an announcement or pointing to a chart. It was accomplished by our early church leaders living out God’s eternal power and divine nature in their own lives for the congregations to follow. Their examples, passed down through generations, led me to faith in Jesus at Adventure Church and to giving my life to Him.
My Turn
That’s how it works! I’m not alone, nor do it by myself, but I let God be plainly revealed in my life.
