Read Matthew 9-12

On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” – Matthew 9:12, NIV

Think about your “church” friends. You all go out after church for lunch or get together for game night and discuss how great that week’s sermon was. You discuss how important Jesus is in your lives and what a difference He has made in your life. Now what about your work friends? Your school friends? Your neighbors? Do you share the same conversations.

In this passage we saw Jesus eating with people that were considered to be sinners and non-believers. They were the outcasts of society, yet Jesus shared a meal with them. The religious leaders were shocked, since they only eat with the believers and religious followers. But Jesus wasn’t here to help them, he was here to help the lost and broken.

Take a look at your relationships. Are you sharing the love of God with those who already know it, or are you sharing it with those who need it. The broken, the lost, the confused, the outcasts, the sinners – these are who we are meant to share this gift with. That is what the Great Commission is all about. As you go about your day, are you taking care of the healthy – or the sick?
